Continued Travels In The 1900’s

Capuchin Catacombs of Palermo

Above a stop off in Palermo……I think, the Capuchin Catacombs originally for friars it became a bit of a status symbol in future generations to be entombed in the catacombs.

The rest of the photographs in this post I don’t know where they were taken. I assume they are all from the same trip.

Below there’s only one name visible on any of the ships and it’s still unreadable.

Teatro Politeama Garibaldi

Above the Politeama Theatre in Palermo which I think confirms the location of the catacombs in the first photograph. It’s not the sharpest photograph but I included it for the location confirmation and also it looks like scaffolding on the right of the building, the final parts were completed in 1891. Could this be a rough date of the trip?

The sun sets on the trip which must have been some adventure back when the world was a bigger place. Must have cost a few quid back then too.
