I do like a marble statue in black and white, the blacker the better!
I’ve had a wee thing I’ve been planning to do for months I’m just too lazy to do it, but since we’ve signed off our 2019 holidays with a return to Italy and a first time to Rome and on seeing room upon room of marble statues I thought it would be a good opportunity to put my plan in action with a slight nod to Joy Division’s album cover Closer.
Hercules leads the page and the next one reminds me of Machinemensch from Metropolis or it did at the time I snapped the shutter . Below . . . I can’t remember, really should have snapped the info plates too although I’m sure it said it was made of fifteen separate pieces.
I need another trip to Italy if I want to recreate the Joy Division Closer photograph, the mausoleum on the cover sits in a cemetery in Genoa.
These images were taken in the Capitoline Museum, well worth a visit if you’re in Rome.
Got a wee update from Cagliari on Facebook yesterday, turns out they’re still splashing about in the sea at Poetto.
Had a look at the old files in the old memory compartment of the laptop. The quicker the lottery win comes in the quicker I get a wee house out there.
Going through the old files from way back in 2013 tonight and decided to give this one the black and white treatment. The colour version is here LINK posted back in the olden times.
When the numbers come up this is where I’ll be. Sunning myself in Sardinia for the rest of my days, well at least until them money runs out. What a cracking wee balcony to sit and have breakfast every morning although it’s a flat above the Via Roma overlooking the marina that I want.
A wee test post thinking about doing away with the links down the side and add them to the bottom of my posts instead. I’ll not get rid of my side links until I’m 100% on what I prefer.
The photo is a panorama from Cagliari on top of the Bastione San Remy.
This was taken on our last walk along here think our hotel was probably above where this one was taken.
……it dies so quickly
It grows so slowly
But when it dies, it dies for good……..
Street full of flowers in Cagliari, Sardinia. The title stolen from New Order’s second studio album, the connection? It has flowers on the album cover.
